2020.

I remember writing my end-of-year reflection/recap for 2019 and thinking how hard of year 2019 was and surely, 2020 would be better. Looking back now and laughing, I can’t hardly remember the bad times from last year, and I’m pretty sure they were nothing compared to the lows of this year (ha!).

While I think we can all agree that it really was a weird and different and crumby year, I truly believe there was still a lot of good things that came from this year, too! Here’s some of ours…

The beginning of this year started out great with the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl! πŸ˜‰ As a life long Kansas City fan, this was such a fun and memorable time for us! Hoping to bring it back this year too! πŸ˜‰ I also got to see Jason Aldean + Morgan Wallen (my favorites!) in concert! If you ever get the chance, ask Joe about his hair story from this night.

In the Spring, we planted our very first garden! It was so much fun picking out the different fruits + veggies, planting and setting up our flowerpot garden on our patio. We even managed to keep them alive long enough to the point of harvest. Yum!

In May, Joe bought a 2019 Volvo VNL! While there was a little bit of a rut in the road when his work shut down for bit around the same time, it was still a major blessing as his previous truck bit the dust right before and now he’s set up with nice, reliable equipment for many coming years. So thankful for how God’s timing + hard work pays off!

We did tons of fishing this year and even bought our first boat this Summer! It’s nothing fancy, but it’s the perfect fishing boat for us and a way to get us off the shore and onto the water. We loved taking our family for plenty of rides and experiencing lots of new, surrounding lakes together!

July brought many blessings. My sister and I launched our business, Lola Jean and Joe’s sister got engaged!

In the Fall, we were thankful to get to spend time with family and celebrate exciting things together – Joe’s sister’s marriage, my sister’s marriage, Thanksgiving, etc. We ended this year together with our families, enjoying a different but restful holiday.

We’ve come to love the game Sequence, floating down the river and discovering new, small business restaurants around town that we’ve never heard of. We’re so thankful for the ability to see my grandparents through the windows, healthy bodies, and all of this “good” amidst the hardship.

We hope you and your loved ones are doing well and like us, you are able to find some “good” in light of this year. We pray for peace, hope and continued health into the New Year and are excited to see what 2021 has in store!

“All in all, this isn’t the year we wished for but it ended up being a year we will never forget”

Lots of love + prayers,

Davianne + Joe
