February 2017

Hi friends!

Here’s what took place during month number 2 of 2017!

February 1: each month without you here is definitely hard, but especially this one. // despite all the extra pain and sadness this month brings, i’m so, so thankful for the powerful reminder, of how precious this life is, it also sends. more often than not, we (myself included) get caught up in our busy schedules and the flow of life and forget to just stop and take a moment to look around and appreciate just all that we have. and although it sounds “cheesy”, our lives truly, truly can change drastically in a matter of seconds and we honestly won’t even know what hit us. // one of my favorite, most honest (but also simple 😉) quotes of all time says a little something like this- “hug your loved ones, because you’ll never know when God will need them back again”. sooo, my friends, here’s to a hard month, a really hard month, where I’m (and I encourage you too 😊) gonna hug more often, love my people a whole lot harder, and just appreciate all that I have right here, right now, a little bit better.

“If we remembered everyday that we could lose someone at any moment, we would love them more fiercely, and freely, and without fear- not because there is nothing to lose, but because everything can always be lost.”

February 3- 5: Girls trip to western NE! This first weekend of February, my momma, Shaylee and I hit the road and headed out west! Friday night, we drove all the way out and stayed in North Platte. The next the morning we got up and spent the day at one of our favorite events… Crowns & Gowns! It was a long, long day, but we were able to find me a beautiful prom dress. 😊 We did some shopping in North Platte Saturday afternoon, and then drove to Kearney and stayed there that night. While in Kearney, we did some more shopping and then Sunday afternoon, before we could head back home, we, of course, had to eat at one of our favorite places in the WORLD- Flippin’ Sweet! Our cousin, Nicole, got to join us for lunch, which was pretty special also!

February 11: Norris vs. LCS basketball games! Girls won, boys lost, and I got to see my best friend Sophia cheer!

February 12: This Sunday started off with church and lunch at the Millard Roadhouse!  And then we finished off this day with some shopping around Omaha!

February 13: Daddy’s Birthday! A chilly night, but we were still able to take some balloons out to his grave ❤

February 14: Valentine’s Day 2017! ! 💕 i hope you all got to love on your special ones a little bit harder and head to bed each night, knowing just how much YOU are loved 😍 here’s to spreading the x’s & o’s a lot more often, not just one day of the year 💃

February 17: “I think the hardest part of losing someone, isn’t having to say goodbye or letting them go, but rather learning to live without them. always trying to fill the void, the emptiness that’s left inside your heart once they’re gone” // 17 years. you’ve missed out on a lot. a lot of really big stuff (a lot you would probably be thankful you weren’t actually here for quite honestly), but then again there’s so much ahead of us that you won’t get to see or be apart of. life is rough and just plain sucks sometimes, but I guess that’s kinda just how things go. not really sure how we’ve done it all these years- how MOM has done it all these years putting up with us, but here we are. what I would give to just hear your voice one time today or give you a simple hug. despite everything, i’m sure you would be proud- proud of us all. remembering you and missing you today and everyday, daddy and counting down the days until I see you on my own. tell the big man upstairs hello for me… love you always.

FB_IMG_1490137366036

February 18: This Saturday was a beautiful day, and so Shaylee and I decided to grab some lunch at Panera and then do a little bit of sister shopping around the mall 😊. {If you can’t tell, we may or may not have a shopping problem 😉 hahaha}. Later that night, I got to hang out with Yaya.

February 19: Another Sunday up in Omaha for church, shopping, and exploring! We wanted to eat in the Old Market, but since it was State Wrestling, the President’s Day tournament for club volleyball teams, and gameday for Creighton and there was 20 billion {yes, THAT many to all of my smart-alecky friends reading this rn 😉 haha} people down there, we ended up going somewhere else. We ended up trying out Big Fred’s pizza and it was delicious! Before heading back to Lincoln, we made a finally stop at eCreamery ice cream shop in Dundee! Who would’ve thought that it would be 72 degrees and we would be eating ice cream, outside, in the middle of February in Nebraska?! Ha.

February 21: was the boys sub- district game @ Waverly that Yaya, Kiley and I got to go to! Unfortunately, the boys lost ending their season, but always a good time with my girls ❤

February 26: This Sunday, I got new nails {see picture below} and then later that night, my momma, Liv Jo, and I made a quick trip up to Seward and ate dinner at Cafe on the Square, just the 3 of us. ❤

That just about sums it up! The month of February is probably the hardest month of the year for my family and I, but at the same time so beautiful and so sweet. Kinda weird, but just the way it goes, ha. 😊 Thanks for reading!

Much love, Davianne

January 2017

Hey there!

I always look forward to January because it means a brand new and fresh start to a whole different year! Here’s what took place this time…

January 1: Every year on January 1st, New Years Day, my whole family (the 10 of us) go out to my grandparent’s house, eat lunch, watch football, and just spend time together, kicking off the New Year! Along with this part of this tradition, the grand kids open up new books from grandpa and grandma. We know how special and important reading is to our education and lives in general, and so this is always a fun and different gift we look forward to each year!

January 2: New nailsss! 😊 Also, baby Jo’s 3 month birthday! ❤ See pictures from both below!

January 7: LCS basketball games vs. Hastings- St. Cecilia!

January 10: LCS basketball games vs. Boys Town!

January 13: Eric Freakin’ Church Concert with momma & Shay! SERIOUSLY OBSESSED WITH HIM/ HIS MUSIC.

January 16: Yaya’s 17th birthday!

January 21: LCS basketball vs. Filmore Central!

January 22: The family got together and celebrated Conner’s 16th birthday early by eating some lunch at Valentino’s!

January 24: This Tuesday night, my momma and I met my grandparents for one last quick dinner at F.O.X before they left for their trip to Texas!

January 28: My momma, Shay, and I grabbed some delicious lunch at Round The Bend steakhouse- one of our favorite places! Then we drove into Ashland, and did a little bit of shopping at one of their cute little stores and lastly grabbed a treat from look up coffee store before heading back home.

January 29: Another set of nails, ha, and a quick little story….

on my way home the other day, as I was thinking about how it was finally nice enough out for me to put out the new flowers with deer antlers we got, on dad’s grave, 3 deer ran across the road in front of me & another car. thankful for these little reminders that he’s always looking down & watching out and more importantly, that this world is not our forever home. 💛{thankful for pretty sunsets like this one from that night too 😊}

5 Best Beauty Tips for my Girlsss

Hey Ladies!

Lately I have been hearing lots of girls talk or post about all the different beauty issues they seem to been struggling with and after experiencing some of the exact things, I wanted to share with you all the little things I found that work best to solve these problems and also, just share with you some tips and tricks that work best! I’m definitely not a beauty expert, that’s for sure 😉 , but I do believe our bodies are temples, beautifully, and wonderfully made, and we are called to take care of them.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 >>> “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought with a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies”

Soooo, here are my 5 best beauty tips for my nightly routine (that actually work) that I do and you should too!

Number 1: REMOVE YOUR MAKEUP: I CAN NOT push this enough!! In all honesty, I used to be really lazy on this, not really caring if my makeup stayed on or off… I knew it felt gross in the morning, but I still just blew it off. Then one day, I came upon this article that shared all the different things that take place on/ inside your skin when you don’t take off your makeup and let me tell you- it was (and is) DISGUSTING. Since then, I have done pretty well (thankfully) on remembering and pushing myself to *always* (with exception 😉 ) take off my makeup.

I will spare you from all the not-so-pleasant details (you can look them up on your own 😉 ) of what happens when you don’t remove your “pretty face” ;), but I will let you know that:

  • it will help break-outs (minor or major); you won’t have as many
  • it is SO SO SO much healthier for your skin in so many different areas and ways
  • you/ your skin will feel a thousand times better (I PROMISE); especially in the mornings

My Recommendation: I recommend to use Neutrogena Ultra- Soft Cleansing Towelettes (see picture below or click link above). Not only do they work extremely well (1 wipe does it all), but they are great/ don’t burn. This is super important for me because I, personally, have extremely sensitive skin and so wipes that don’t burn is what ya girl needs 😉 and these ones are PERFECT for that!

Number 2: WASH YOUR FACE! Not only is this a simple, and important thing to do in general, but it is super important to do after you take off your makeup. Obviously there is going to be those removing chemicals from the wipe you will want to rinse off, but also the water can be the final remover of anything left on your face. This task will take maybe a good 2 minutes MAX., and is about as easy as it gets, so there’s really no reason as to why you shouldn’t be doing it!

Number 3: OILS & OTHER LOTIONS: Okay, so I don’t really know a lot about all the oils & other liquids out there (nor do I really care enough to do so, to be honest), but there are 2 basic ones I really like to use and ones that truly help! Here they are…

  • Coconut Oil: I’m sure you’ve heard about this one before and all the marvelous things it can do/ be used  for, but I personally love putting it on my face/ skin after removing my makeup and/or showering! Not only is this oil the best solution for dry/ dead skin, but also keeping the skin healthy and clear!

My Recommendation: I suggest using either Spectrum Organic Coconut Oil, or LouAna Coconut Oil (see pictures below), it’s the solid form of the oil. You don’t need much, just take a little bit, it will melt in your hands, and then  rub it onto your skin. Like I said, after removing your makeup and/or showering and before bed is usually the best time to apply it and then in the mornings, when you wash your face, you can rinse it off if needed.

  • Lotion: Lotion isn’t something I *super* big on… I mean I’m all for the soft, luscious skin, but definitely not one of those Bath and Body Works freaks 😉 that overdoes it, lol. That being said, I do like to use some after shaving my legs, and to prevent dry skin and crusty elbows, ha.

My Recommendation: Whether you are a VS person or not, I recommend using Victoria Secret Ultimate Moisture System- Passionflower Scrub Wash, Lotion & Oil Set (see picture below). It is just one of many kinds, but it is one that works great and doesn’t smell bad ;), ha.

Number 4: BRUSH YOUR HAIR & LET IT DOWN: This is one of the simpler ones, but one that is still extremely important to remember! One of the biggest times that our cells grow and produce is while we are sleeping. When you leave your hair up in a pony tail, or bun, it remains clumped together, and won’t be able to grow as well as if it were down. Along with this, leaving your hair pulled up for long periods of time, can cause indents throughout the hair, which can eventually cause severe damage, such as breaks, etc. Don’t forget to brush your hair too, as often as you can, especially at the beginning and end of each day. It’s important to brush out the typical tangles from each day, in order to prevent bigger “rats” and keep our hair healthy.

Number 5: PUT ON A CLEAN SET OF CLOTHES: This is another one that I didn’t immediately jump to worry about, but then educated myself 😉 and now, rarely go without. If you really think about it, there is so much our bodies, and especially clothes, come in contact with throughout the day, both inside and out, and it’s really kinda gross. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for wearing the same pair of sweats twice in a row 😉 lol, butttt we really shouldn’t put on that same t-shirt we wore all day, right after we just rinsed ourselves/ bodies clean. Ya feel?! A fresh set of clothes will naturally feel better and of course, ALWAYS smell better 😉 ha.

Hopefully you learned something new, by reading these and will use/ do them in your future too! Let me know if any of you gals discover something new or better, that can help a sistaaa out too 😉  Thanks for reading…

Much love, Davianne

Got It From My Momma

Hey there!

As many of you know, yesterday was International Women’s Day, and of course I gotta give love & a shout out to my momma ;)…. soooo

international women’s day post just 1 day late, but when you got a momma like mine, everday is the day to celebrate her and how strong she is. 😉 thanks for being cool enough to go to concerts with us, young enough to get hit on by those guys {and embarrass the crap out of shay & I 🙈😂}, silly enough to make me laugh when I don’t feel like, wise enough to help me make the right choices, and most importantly, strong enough to hold me and carry me along when i’m broken and can’t do it myself {especially during those times where you’re even more torn apart and broken then me and should be the one being held}. ❤❤ I could never imagine going through the things that you have, but even so you’ve taught me some of the biggest lessons in my life, and I can only HOPE to be anything near a woman like you. your hugs & pillows will always be my favorite 😉, & I will always love you so 💕💕 // “the most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. these persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern. beautiful people do not just happen.” // #raiseemup

much love Momma, Davianne
